About Me
To be honest with you, I'm too embarrassed to reveal who I actually am, so for now you only get to know my story. Who knows though, in the future you may all know who I am? Hopefully for good reasons though!
Growing up, I wasn't much of a gamer; I did play games on my PS1 and Xbox, but would prefer to play football most of the time. Then Minecraft came along - using redstone, I liked to make simple games like noughts and crosses, but I also liked to make adventure/challenge maps for friends. The only problem was they were pretty rubbish and I'm sure my friends only played them because I forced them too!
But, I stopped playing football and started playing more and more games. Eventually 2022 came around and my New Year's resolution was to publish a game on the Google Play store. However, I had no idea there were even different coding languages (let alone so many) when I first set out on my journey. With the help of some friends I was suggested to learn C# and then learn Unity to help complete my goal.
I began by completing a book called THE C# PLAYER’S GUIDE by RB Whitaker. Although it was challenging at first, it did exactly what it was supposed to and made me confident to write in C# all the way from knowing nothing about coding languages at all.
Unity was next and this was much more challenging than I ever could've thought. I mean, like the code actually has to do things now! Luckily, the Unity tutorials are fantastic and helped me understand a lot of what Unity can offer. The first two games I created with it can be found on my itch.io page, but won't exactly be the most fun you have ever had - so play at your own risk (one is about a seagull catching bread, and the other about an octopus making babies).
But, now I set about my goal - it was time to make a game that I could publish on the the Google Play Store. After the massive deciding time of about five minutes I decided on Necromancer Bob. This is a simple turn-based and melee combat game where you kill bosses and make them your followers to save your castle. It's not a great game, honestly, but I used it as a way to practice everything I had learned in Unity and learn even more like animations, monetization, post processing... Anyway, I succeeded in publishing it on the Google Play Store (which was a challenge too) and my mission was complete: I had published a game to the Google Play Store.
And guess what? I got a grand total of like six players, so never give up on your dreams!
